IB Olympiad Week Five

This week I thought I would do something a little different and post a screen shot of my robot. You can see all the current positions in the shot above, just click on it to zoom in. There were no new option positions this week as volatility died down (which is where my profits came from). Also, the message boxes are pretty much empty because I just turned on the program for a few minutes right before the close. Lately, since I am nervous about glitches, I have been running the program mostly for the first few hours of the day and right before the close. With my strategy this actually leads to pretty much the same positions anyways and it helps me stay calm in class, etc. So a new record for the Olympiad account this week, sweet! How is everyone else doing? I'd really like to hear more about other people's success/failures.

A mediocre week for the program in part due to problems with the naked positions in MELI and IOC. Both were stopped out at decent sized losses and the program covered to much on MELI and ended up being long 90 of those puts. This glitch might work in the favor of the program, we'll see. Currently there are $150,000 worth of out of the money options sold short, so if those can stay out of the money for two more weeks then that a 15% gain there. At the moment I am debating whether or not the stock trading strategy is profitable, but its nice to have a strategy that will profit off a trending market.

Biggest black hole in the cosmos discovered

"The most massive known black hole in the universe has been discovered, weighing in with the mass of 18 billion Suns. Observing the orbit of a smaller black hole around this monster has allowed astronomers to test Einstein's theory of general relativity with stronger gravitational fields than ever before.

The black hole is about six times as massive as the previous record holder and in fact weighs as much as a small galaxy. It lurks 3.5 billion light years away, and forms the heart of a quasar called OJ287. A quasar is an extremely bright object in which matter spiralling into a giant black hole emits copious amounts of radiation.

But rather than hosting just a single colossal black hole, the quasar appears to harbour two – a setup that has allowed astronomers to accurately 'weigh' the larger one."...
